Four Seasons

West Palm Beach Four Seasons Vertical Farming

Overview

The Four Seasons is an agritourism project in Palm Beach, FL that will integrate on-site vertical farming and events within an established resort destination. The vertical farming component will provide access to seasonal fresh produce for hotel restaurants and their guests.

Demand for farm to table concepts continue to trend upward while the pandemic has ruptured conventional produce supply chains. Urban farms and similar grow facilities are addressing these challenges by locating production as close as possible to the end consumer. With on-site vertical grow facilities, the notion of farm to table is improved upon by a more convenient approach; harvest to table.

The project consists of a 1,500sf vertical farming grow house facility and a 2,500sf events building.

The vertical farm will be able to produce approximately 28lbs / sf of fresh, leafy greens and herbs per year.

To capitalize on the rebound of corporate travel and entertainment, the proposed events building will expand the hotel’s options for localized corporate and private events.

Each of the proposed structures will overlap an existing garden on the west boundary of the property, set away from the existing hotel. The majority of the existing garden area will be redesigned to enhance the dense landscape buffer that separates South Ocean Boulevard and the hotel and will provide new circulation paths and outdoor gathering spaces between the two new buildings.

The hotel’s recreation programming and amenities will be improved and expanded. The outdated existing tennis club facility will be demolished and future club and recreation functions will occur within the new events facility.
