Quick Response (QR) Building

Overview

The QR Building is a proposed two story, 9,000 sf commercial building located in the Wynwood Arts District in Miami.

This building façade is a data repository where the QR “arts mural” has the potential to embed specific digital information about the building tenants. The idea is to unshackle retailers from traditional static building signage and instead, offer dynamic advertising and branding awareness to the retailer’s audiences and contiguous street traffic.

In essence, the architecture is an invisible billboard that only manifests itself through the physical engagement of the user, via their smartphone camera. Point and shoot, a modern subconscious action, has become ubiquitous throughout the Wynwood Arts District as visitors eagerly capture image after image of Wynwood’s street art.

Such digital harvesting of information can be drawn upon more intentionally. A QR image, an applied layer containing vasts amount of information can be embedded into the architecture itself.

The facade of the QR Building can disseminate useful information about the building vendors,

whether through imagery or text, in lieu of physical street art and murals.

The application of quick response technology within digital street “art” messaging allows the vendor to co-exist amongst the street artist, affording them the ability to exert complete control of their messaging, via digital content that continues to evolve their brand.

The latent potential and distribution of information instantaneously has limitless application, opening a reciprocal digital highway where new “followers” flow towards the path of least resistance, as each tenant vies for maximum attention within a cluttered streetscape.

The ground floor of the QR Building is divided into 4 retail tenants. A restaurant and bar will be located on the second floor that will overlook a city proposed woonerf street design. The proximal relationship between QR facade and street will define an interactive pedestrian experience like none other in Wynwood.
